What does it mean?
The visualization is called a "Slope Graph". Artists are arranged in decreasing order down the lines i.e. the higher the artists is on the line, the better he is for that feature. The difference in height also shows the extent by which one artist is better than the other.

You can select the left and the right feature for comparison. The incline/decline of the connecting line indicates the extent to which the left and right features differ for a rapper. For example, if the left feature is popularity and right feature is word density , you can notice lines from the left-top to right-bottom. This means that popular rappers tend to be less dense in terms of lyrics.

The features!

• Popularity - This is measured as the highest of Last.fm plays, Youtube plays, Facebook likes and Twitter followers
• Rhymes - This is the fraction of the syllables that are rhymes vs the total number of syllables for an Artist (minimum cutoff - 5000 words)
• Vocab - This is the total number of unique words (only common nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives) from a sample of 20k words from an Artist (artists need a minimum of 20k words)
• Similes - This is the average number of similes per verse for an Artist (minimum cutoff - 50 verses)
• Profanity - This is the fraction of the number of profane words vs the total number of words for an Artist (minimum cutoff - 5000 words)
• Word Density - This is the average number of words per verse for an Artist (minimum cutoff - 5000 words)

What can you do?

• Bulk load a desired number of top artists
• Type in names of your favorite rappers in the search box to add/remove them
• Select features for the left and right half of the graph
• Click on clear to delete the visualization and start over
• Hover over an image to get details about the artist
• Share your visualization with everyone you know!
